Cecilia

When I found the above clip, I almost slid off my office chair :-) haha it raised some eyebrows with my co workers believe me! This would be one of my fav Simon & Garfunkel songs being covered by a gaggle of gorgeous men who are incredibly gifted with more than musical talents! By the looks this is earlier in their career... Love the use of the tree and the esky in the percussion section too!

It's now official... I am completely obsessed with Local Natives... and I mean COMPLETELY OBSESSED! Not only have I fallen deeply in love with their music, I have to admit I have developed a major crush on Taylor Rice!

How could you not adore this young man??? I mean really... the mo, that mouth and the sound that pours forth from it... and how cute is he without the mo in the clip at the top!!!!????

God help this man if I EVER get within about 500m of him!

Song of the Day | Washed Out

You and I by Washed Out

I'm really looking forward to checking this guy out at Meredith Music Festival this December...
I think I have developed a major crush on ambient/trip hop tunes... you can have your techno, trance and house, I'll stick to dub step, trip hop, minimal and ambient ANYDAY!!!

Recent parties I've been to that friends of friends and crew have DJ'd at have kinda left me deflated and a little disappointed with trance in particular, I think you really have to be on top of the pile these days to really impress as there are so many DJs gettin around and I for one want something more out of a DJ than what they traditionally give you! So it's nice to find guys like Washed Out that give me something I don't expect... I also have incredibly high standards and as I no longer indulge in the chemical assistance that makes some of the worst music sound good, I'm pretty critical!

I hope you like today's tune...

Song of the Day | Middle East

Quite a dark and hauntingly beautiful tune for today!
Another slice of heavenly music that I was directed to a while ago from my beautiful feathered fwend of the south...
Their EP is fantastic though I have to say i really need to be in the mood to listen to it the whole way through... this is def an EP for a late night after a few yoints! Though this song is getting a fair crack on triple J in recent months and the harmonies are exceptional, the balance of the male and female vocalists is stunning and ever so incredibly cute!
Kids from the country now how to make real music so it seems as these band of muso's are from Townsville! Happy listening kids!

Crop Art

These very crafty buggers have turned agriculture into art! yay for them!
Using different colours of rice plants these rice paddy's grow into amazing and intricate works of art! Crop Art is taking off in Japan and I love how the image slowly forms as the rice grows under the surface of the water, then busts out and solidifies into a really cool piece of art!!!
very cool....

Hidden Talents

Emilie is an English Teacher... I think she should be a full time artist!
check her huge Flikr stream here you will not be disappointed I promise!
her love for polaroid was rediscovered only a few years ago... for most of us polaroids are entwined with memories from our childhood, like Emilie, however she became drawn to explore the wonders of instant film again. Thank god she did or we may never have seen images like the ones below!!!

It was though Emilie's stream that I stumbled across the emulsion lift technique...
this completely intrigues and excites me to the point that I want to reshuffle some budget priorities and buy me a polaroid cam just to try this...

The above emulsion lifts are by Abbey Wuthrich and Graham Tait respectively...
oooo its just makes me wanna get my hands on som 669 film a cam and start making things!!!

Sensory Overload

Okay so today I have hit several jackpots... I have disappeared down a rabbit hole of inspirations, imaginations and the most amazing blogs ever!!! and now I'm in overload!
I think today goes down in history as the most prolific blog/website treasure hunt, and boy did I come up trumps!!!
Above you see the amazing work of Sam Weber, a canadian illustrator that has a great website you can view here I'm still scooping up the pieces of my brain after it exploded with excitement and delight after drooling over his work!

Below is an artist by the name of Rosson Crow, her paintings (which are on massive canvas') are incredible! the interiors she depicts are lavish and detailed without the element of precision and I love it! I found her on... hmm was it colectiva or Dropular???? one of the two! arrrrrrghhhhh what next????? hmmmm....

ok so after a wee bit of deliberation and review of the images I have added to my puter today... here's a slice of heaven from a little site called therewasrain.com a blog full of rad photographers and architects... seems like a weird combo, but anyhoo i dig it just the same... I'm sure you will too!

Next up Justin Blyth animator, designer and art director... has some MAD skills with a Holga! he has a rad website with tonnes of cool shit on it!!! check check check it out!!!

I wish I had more patience when it comes to sharing things that excite me as today's wanderings through cyberspace could keep me blogging for about a month... so I'm going to stop here and save at least some of the awesomeness I found for a later date... ahhhh who am I kidding, you'll be seeing more in about oooooh 24rs or less!!!!

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
