Song of the Day | Washed Out

You and I by Washed Out

I'm really looking forward to checking this guy out at Meredith Music Festival this December...
I think I have developed a major crush on ambient/trip hop tunes... you can have your techno, trance and house, I'll stick to dub step, trip hop, minimal and ambient ANYDAY!!!

Recent parties I've been to that friends of friends and crew have DJ'd at have kinda left me deflated and a little disappointed with trance in particular, I think you really have to be on top of the pile these days to really impress as there are so many DJs gettin around and I for one want something more out of a DJ than what they traditionally give you! So it's nice to find guys like Washed Out that give me something I don't expect... I also have incredibly high standards and as I no longer indulge in the chemical assistance that makes some of the worst music sound good, I'm pretty critical!

I hope you like today's tune...

Song of the Day | Local Natives

Photobucket

Welcome to my new regular feature Song of the Day!

Click the player belowto listen to today's Song of the Day!

I love this song so much... the harmonies make my heart feel lovesick and the sense of yearning is almost too much to bear (especially with all that keening at the start of the song), but none the less I crave the sensation and listen over and over and over again! If I actually let myself be swept away by the music, it brings tears to my eyes every time... such a journey, such an EPIC journey! These guys are pure GENIUS!!!!

Aussie Cossie

HIGH-heeled ugg boots will make their international catwalk debut as part of Australia's national costume, worn by Gold Coast model Jesinta Campbell at the Miss Universe final next month.

Jesinta will fly the Aussie flag wearing woolly booties in the Las Vegas quest on August 23, reports the Herald Sun.

Campbell, 18, will wear a unique creation by Sydney designer Natasha Dwyer, who works under the Arthur Ave label, in the pageant's national costume section.

"Isn't it incredible," Campbell said yesterday as she revealed the gown.

We're not so sure.

As quoted in the Gold Coast Bulletin today...

Are you kidding me? We're not so sure... (I really hope Sasha didn't write this article...) this dress is AMAZING!!! and the fools that don't like it have no taste!
I think its incredible... I love the shape the skirt provides, to me its grandiose and incredibly flattering and the onesie swimsuit is to die for (if you have the body to sport it) that shrug is mega cute and as for the high heeled uggies.... its every aussie chick's dream to have an amazing pair of stylish heels that are also mega warm and cosy.... it's a winner in my eyes and I'd be surprised if there is another outfit in that horrible pageant that reflects the origins of its model better!

This outfit is a total win for me... I want that belt and skirt!!

Friday I'm in Love

Soooooo excited for the weekend!!!
Love this song... dedicating it to today and a few random images below as a wee tribute to my fav day of the week! Happy Friday hipsters!
PS - I WANT THIS SHIRT!!!!

Underwater love

Trent Mitchell is a local GC boy who is blessed with an amazing ability to capture moments from a perspective that thrills the heck out of my retina's!
His love is waves, clearly a surfer who digs the shit outta mother natures wonderous and gigantic bath!
The colour and saturation of his images are soooo incredible! I love the work he does with film, the digi shots are awesome as well but I would seriously give my left tit for his talents with film!
Plus not to mention he has some great taste, one of the quotes on his website is from one of my fav books, Johnathon Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach... "perfect speed....is being there!"
His gift with a camera, film or digi, is not to be missed check it out kids...

Maya and the water hole

It's been over a month since my last post before the epic road trip I went on over Christmas... I thought it about time I that I start to post some of the pic's I've taken and a few great sgots by others!
I'll post about the holiday later on but here is a few pics that my friend Corie took of my lil fluffball over the Australia Day weekend while we were hanging out in the loving energy of Booby Mountain!!!
It's been a wonderfully hot summer since I got back and Maya has been cooling off in the water hole at the bottom of the mountain during those hot days and having a hell of a lot of fun!!!
These shots by Corie are absofuckinglutely amazing in my opinion and I think I might have to get some of them framed!!! It may have something to do with the fact that I am completely in love with the subject matter and a lil biased as well!!!

Photo's of Maya by Corie
The shots below are a few that I managed to get with Corie's awesome camera! I love sun shots and capturing flares and colours from the almighty burning ball of gas that lights my way each day! I'm pretty stoked with these shots!
