Aussie Cossie

HIGH-heeled ugg boots will make their international catwalk debut as part of Australia's national costume, worn by Gold Coast model Jesinta Campbell at the Miss Universe final next month.

Jesinta will fly the Aussie flag wearing woolly booties in the Las Vegas quest on August 23, reports the Herald Sun.

Campbell, 18, will wear a unique creation by Sydney designer Natasha Dwyer, who works under the Arthur Ave label, in the pageant's national costume section.

"Isn't it incredible," Campbell said yesterday as she revealed the gown.

We're not so sure.

As quoted in the Gold Coast Bulletin today...

Are you kidding me? We're not so sure... (I really hope Sasha didn't write this article...) this dress is AMAZING!!! and the fools that don't like it have no taste!
I think its incredible... I love the shape the skirt provides, to me its grandiose and incredibly flattering and the onesie swimsuit is to die for (if you have the body to sport it) that shrug is mega cute and as for the high heeled uggies.... its every aussie chick's dream to have an amazing pair of stylish heels that are also mega warm and cosy.... it's a winner in my eyes and I'd be surprised if there is another outfit in that horrible pageant that reflects the origins of its model better!

This outfit is a total win for me... I want that belt and skirt!!

Abandonment

Image credit | Sam Thomas - amazing artist

Ok so i have completely abandoned my blog for the last 6mths!
i guess its been for a few reasons... one is I have had very little time between a busy work schedule, a puppy who commands and absorbs most of my free time (willingly and lovingly mind you!) and the fact that I have been in a bit of a slump of late...
Though its all changing right before my eyes... well that last part at least!

The slump I've found myself emerging from meant that I found little that inspired me enough to blog about, and when I did, I just didn't seem able to find time! That's not to say there was nothing rad and wonderful being produced out there by peeps, I just wasn't looking for it!

Going from a place where I just didn't want to do anything or be anything, to a new perspective of looking forward with a fresh burst of energy, a renewed vigour for life and a good cleanse of my temple has been a breathe of fresh air!

Its amazing to me how deeply I can bury myself in insubstantial, unmeaningful and unhealthy habits that completely remove me from the playing field of my life... I got sick of watching an empty pitch, and finally realised there was no one holding me in the grandstands... so I got up off my ass and headed out to play again!

I have a lot to do to fully get myself back on track, so while I'm not promising to blog everyday, I am going to make an effort to adding something to this 'ere lil ol' visual diary more often!
So here a a few of the images I had buried deep in the bowels of my hard drive just waiting for a day that I had some time to share...

The above images were found somewhere on the web... not sure where but if these images are yours, please comment me and I will add the credit and link for you asap!

Crop Art

These very crafty buggers have turned agriculture into art! yay for them!
Using different colours of rice plants these rice paddy's grow into amazing and intricate works of art! Crop Art is taking off in Japan and I love how the image slowly forms as the rice grows under the surface of the water, then busts out and solidifies into a really cool piece of art!!!
very cool....

Underwater love

Trent Mitchell is a local GC boy who is blessed with an amazing ability to capture moments from a perspective that thrills the heck out of my retina's!
His love is waves, clearly a surfer who digs the shit outta mother natures wonderous and gigantic bath!
The colour and saturation of his images are soooo incredible! I love the work he does with film, the digi shots are awesome as well but I would seriously give my left tit for his talents with film!
Plus not to mention he has some great taste, one of the quotes on his website is from one of my fav books, Johnathon Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach... "perfect speed....is being there!"
His gift with a camera, film or digi, is not to be missed check it out kids...

Hidden Talents

Emilie is an English Teacher... I think she should be a full time artist!
check her huge Flikr stream here you will not be disappointed I promise!
her love for polaroid was rediscovered only a few years ago... for most of us polaroids are entwined with memories from our childhood, like Emilie, however she became drawn to explore the wonders of instant film again. Thank god she did or we may never have seen images like the ones below!!!

It was though Emilie's stream that I stumbled across the emulsion lift technique...
this completely intrigues and excites me to the point that I want to reshuffle some budget priorities and buy me a polaroid cam just to try this...

The above emulsion lifts are by Abbey Wuthrich and Graham Tait respectively...
oooo its just makes me wanna get my hands on som 669 film a cam and start making things!!!
